Padre Island National Seashore, a great place for fun in the sun June 07, 2016 Padre Island National Seashore is located off the south Texas coast. Its 70 miles of sand beach is a mixture of sand dunes, grasslands, and tidal flats. Getting onto Padre Island was quite easy via route 358 through Corpus Christi, TX. Be aware that Corpus Christi is a great destination itself and the traffic can get congested. Once you are on Padre Island head south toward the National Seashore. You will pay a fee to enter the park and at Malaquite Beach Campground and Bird Island Basin.

Cayuga Lake State Park - a jewel of New York's state parks May 16, 2016 We have been avocates of camping in state parks for a long time. During this three month adventure on the road, we have stayed in many different state parks in many states. Since we are on our way "home", we decided to at least spend an overnight in one of New York's Finger Lake state parks. We arrived late afternoon and set up our site. There are 36 electric sites and 247 non-electric sites. We have water, but as the park rules state: fill only no long term hookups. Since we are only here for

Passionate about regional desserts May 15, 2016 I have always had a sweet tooth and desserts seem to satify that craving (Betty, of course they do). I have orered desserts in different parts of the country, but mainly the south. I've ordered Peach cobbler in Orlando St. Augustine and it is not like the peach cobbler I make in New York. The cobbler I am used to has a pie crust or biscuit topper. Both the versions I got in Florida seem to be just baked peaches, with a little sugar, and a little flour. One dessert that seems pretty consistant

Experience the Great Smokies May 10, 2016 April 28 - May 1 One of the many reasons for this trip, was to visit the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We stayed in Waynesville, NC at the Pride Resort. The drive through the upper part of the Smokies on Interstate 40 was spectacular. We settled into our site at Pride Resort and relaxed. Next day I searhed for local hiking trails and found Lake Junaluska. The 2.3 mile hike around the lake was easy but the we all enjoyed it after being cooped up in the car for nearly 6 hours to get to
