The Monarch of Caves October 28, 2016 While in Campbellsville, KY we decided to visit the National Parks that were near us. Mammoth National Park is located in the south central Kentucky where we entered the park at Cave City. Legend suggests that John Houchin first discovered the cave in 1792. Over the years the cave has been used for many things from mining saltpetter for making gunpowder to a retreat for tuberculosis patients. Experience the Great Smokies May 10, 2016 April 28 - May 1 One of the many reasons for this trip, was to visit the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We stayed in Waynesville, NC at the Pride Resort. The drive through the upper part of the Smokies on Interstate 40 was spectacular. We settled into our site at Pride Resort and relaxed. Next day I searhed for local hiking trails and found Lake Junaluska. The 2.3 mile hike around the lake was easy but the we all enjoyed it after being cooped up in the car for nearly 6 hours to get to
